Brew Guide

Chemex

The Chemex brewing method creates a clean, aromatic cup of coffee. Clear, flavourful and visually stunning!

Step 1 – WHAT DO I NEED?

Chemex, Chemex Filter Paper (or Hario V60 03 filters), Clean & fresh water, Fresh coffee (Filter Grind or Beans), Drip Kettle, Your Favourite Cup

Optional:

Coffee grinder, scale

Step 2 – GRIND COFFEE

Use 1 heaped tablespoons (8 grams) of ground coffee for every 130ml of water. If grinding your own, the coffee ground size should be like coarse sand.

Step 3 – PREPARE

Put the filter paper in the Chemex. Rince the filter paper and jug with some hot water to remove the paper taste.

GROUNDS & WATER

Add the ground coffee to the filter paper. Wet the grounds with some water and let it bloom for 45 seconds. Pour evenly in a figure of eight pattern. 16 grams of coffee will need 224 grams of water. Pour water every 10-15 seconds till you reach 240 grams.

Step 5 – POUR & ENJOY

Rince your cup. Remove the V60 from the jug. Pour and enjoy.
