Brew Guide: French Press

Brew Guide

French Press

The French Press is a no fuss brewing method that can quickly deliver a full-bodied brew. Ground coffee is emersed in boiling water that delivers a bold and flavourful cup of coffee.

Step 1

WHAT YOU NEED

French Press

Clean, fresh, hot water

Fresh coffee beans

Table Spoon

Your Favourite Cup

Optional:
Coffee Grinder

Step 2

Grind Coffee

Use 1 heaped tablespoon (8 grams) of ground coffee for every 160ml of water. If grinding your own beans, the coffee ground size should be like coarse sand.

Step 3

Prepare

Rince the French Press glass chamber and filter with warm water. Water should be off the boil at about 93 degrees Celsius.

Step 4

Add Grounds & Water

Add the ground coffee to the plunger. Wet the grounds with some water and let it bloom for 15 seconds. Add the rest of the water and wait 4 minutes.

Step 5

Stir & Wait

Give the coffee a quick stir with the spoon and close the plunger. Wait another minute for the coffee to settle.

Push plunger down slowly, taking care not to stir up the coffee grounds at the bottom. Pour and enjoy.
